MARGAO
What has raised eyebrows amongst the men-in-uniform was that they had found the wallet and driving license of the accused in the abandoned scooter when it was recovered at the Sinquetim road. Taking no chances, the Margao police combed the Sinquetim area of Navelim, including the banks of river Sal in search of the accused.
"The police cannot comment on the recovery of the wallet of the accused in the dickey of the abandoned scooter. The police are investigating into all angles. We have combed the places at Sinquetim, including the bank of river Sal as a matter of abandoned precaution," informed Margao police station-in-charge, PI C L Patil.
He pointed out that the police investigations in the shootout case are progressing on the right track, adding that a police team is leaving for Karnataka later tonight in search of the accused, who hails from the neighbouring state.
The police have interrogated a number of persons as part of the ongoing investigations. A number of labourers were also booked under section 34 of the IPC.
Replying to a question, PI Patil said the post mortem examination on the body of deceased Abdul Kadar was conducted today and the body handed over to the relatives of the deceased.
He said a bullet 7.65, which proved fatal, was extracted from the head of the deceased. Sources in the know said the police again called the family and relatives of the accused for investigations in connection with the murder case.
