A scooter rider from Ponda had a narrow escape on Friday morning after a tree came crashing down on his two-wheeler at Raia.

The rider, Ansel from Ponda, sustained only minor injuries in the accident.

Locals urged the authorities to trim branches hanging dangerously over the road to prevent serious accidents.

They also asked officials to take note of Friday’s incident and act immediately.

The accident happened around 7.15 am, blocking traffic on the National Highway for some time. Normal flow resumed after the Fire Brigade cleared the tree.
