Goencho Ekvott Convenor Creson Antao has said the people of Goa are looking forward to a Diwali gift as well as a gift for the children on the occasion of Children’s Day as the month-long deadline served on the government to decide on their charter of demands to scrap the controversial projects expires on November 13.

He said Goencho Ekvott and the people of Goa are waiting for a positive reply from the Goa government on the demand to scrap the double-tracking and coal transportation and other projects. We had submitted a memorandum to the government demanding action on October 13. It will be a month on November 13 and we look forward to a positive reply from the government on our demands,” he added.

He added: “People of Goa expect the government to give them a Diwali gift by scrapping the contentious projects. Since November 14 is also celebrated as Children’s Day, we hope the government will give a gift to the children by scrapping the projects and protect their future.”

Creson has warned that people will not rest till the government scraps the contentious projects such as coal transportation, double tracking, river nationalization, etc. “This battle is to protect the interests of the future generation. We would like to tell the government that people will come in thousands, more than the number of protestors who had descended at Chandor.”
