With just about 16 months left for the assembly elections in the State, a little known Maharashtra-based political party “ Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP) “ has decided to contest the Goa assembly polls in 2022.
RSP has also decided to field one candidate for Zilla Panchayat elections and further plans to contest in all 20 wards of Mapusa in the ensuing civic elections.
“We are going to field candidates for the 2022 assembly polls. Not in all 40 constituencies but our candidates will definitely contest in the State in the forthcoming elections,” said Kishorr Rao, Goa State President of RSP.
Incidentally, RSP is in alliance with the NDA in Maharashtra.
The RSP chief was addressing a news conference along with Anand Mandrekar, State Vice President of the party and other office-bearers in Mapusa.
Continuing, Rao said it appeared the BJP was scared of holding elections to the zilla panchayat and municipalities.
“We have fielded one candidate in Mayem for the ZP polls and intend to contest in the Mapusa civic polls,” he said.
The RSP was founded in 2003 in Maharashtra and presently the party has one MLA in Maharashtra and two MLCs.
The RSP President appointed Salman Khan of Mapusa as the deputy chief of North Goa and Balasaheb Shinde of Tivim as the deputy chief of Bardez taluka.
“We are looking for fresh faces and who are not tainted. We want people who are different from normal politicians and who were not members in any other party before,” Rao said.
He said Salman Khan has done his MTech and has done extensive research in renewable energy, while Balasaheb Shinde was a builder by profession.
Prashant Joshi from Mapusa and Dipak Gupta from Delhi were also present for the media briefing.
