Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who was on a two-day trip to New Delhi, met Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and conveyed the apprehensions of Goans about the highway expansion at Anmod Ghat.
He urged Gadkari to intervene to ensure early completion of the ongoing works on Sada-Varunapuri highway stretch.
“I discussed the progress of various NHAI projects in Goa,” Sawant informed the media.
Sawant also met NABARD Chairman Govinda Rajulu Chintala and discussed the possibility of availing assistance for the further development of existing and planned infrastructure in Goa.
Sadanand Shet Tanavade was also present at the discussions.
Among the other dignitaries with whom the CM held a meeting was Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal.
However, the CM did not state whether he spoke about the ongoing agitation against the double tracking of South Western Railways at specific spots in the State with Goyal.
Sawant returned to Goa on Tuesday after his two-day visit to the national capital.
Sawant had left for Delhi on Sunday and held talks with the BJP central leadership on political matters in addition to holding discussions with Union ministers over enhancing the flow of funds for Central welfare schemes.
A swelling agitation against the Centre-sponsored infra projects in and around protected forests of Mollem National Park and Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary has rattled the ruling BJP hierarchy and Sawant is keen on conjuring a political response, including a rejig of his cabinet.
