Traffic on the National Highway-66 was disrupted for some time on early Sunday morning at Sirlim when a truck carrying scrap items overturned after a tyre burst, leaving the truck driver and the cleaner injured in the accident.
As the heavy duty truck lay on its side with the scrap scattered on the road, traffic was disrupted for some time, before the scrap material was pushed towards the road side.
Till Sunday noon, the workers engaged by the truck operator were on the job to shift the scrap material into other vehicles.
The owner of the ill-fated truck informed that the vehicle was heading to the Cuncolim Industrial Estate with the scrap material when the accident took place at Sirlim. “After the tyre burst, the vehicle overturned, leaving the scrap on the road. We have engaged workers to shift the scrap material into another truck,” the owner said.
