Scrutiny of compensation claims from traders to begin today

105 claims of affected persons received, loss documents sought

VASCO

The scrutiny and verification of compensation claims submitted by traders and other persons affected by the devastating fire at the Sunday modern market in Vasco will commence on Friday.

According to an official from Mormugao, the administration received 105 claims of the affected persons on Thursday and they will be scrutinised on Friday.

According to a press note issued by the Office of the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mormugao, the scrutiny committee will begin the process at 10 am at the conference hall of the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) in Vasco.

Help desks have been established at the fire incident site and the Mamlatdar’s office to facilitate the submission of claims. The administration has already started receiving applications from affected persons seeking compensation and relief.

A scrutiny committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mormugao, to ensure systematic and transparent verification of the claims.

All claimants who have submitted their names have been asked to appear before the committee with relevant supporting documents, including invoices, bills, proof of ownership or occupation, stock and inventory details, and any other records substantiating the losses claimed.

The committee will examine the details of each claimant, verify the nature of their business or activity and assess the losses reported. It will also scrutinise the supporting documents and identify discrepancies or deficiencies, wherever applicable.

A consolidated preliminary scrutiny report will subsequently be prepared for further necessary action.

The administration has urged all affected persons to cooperate with the verification process and ensure that they produce the necessary documents to facilitate timely scrutiny and processing of their claims.
