MARGAO
It was fun time for foreign and domestic tourists at the world famous Colva beach notwithstanding the dangerously rising sea water rose on Wednesday. But the lifeguards and the tourist police had a torrid time keeping out tourists from venturing into the choppy waters.
The lifeguards and the tourist police were kept on their toes as domestic and foreign tourists kept venturing into the sea despite warning signals. In one instance, the lifeguard sought the assistance of the tourist police to restrain a foreigner from going deep into the sea. Though the sea water rose dangerously for the second day today around noon, it had no impact on the visitors flocking the sea, as
huge waves battered the coast since morning.
“We understand the that the visitors do not want to miss out on the opportunity of enjoying a good time while in Goa,” remarked a life guard, but hastened to add that the sea has been rough and the rising waters indeed pose danger to the visitors.
Incidentally, the tourism department has issued an advisory on Thursday, advising tourists not to venture into the sea water till Sunday. In fact, the tourists have been advised to take maximum care and precaution while at the beaches and pay heed to the instructions of the lifeguards deputed on the beaches.
Lifeguards, however, say that the visitors hardly pay heed to the warnings issued by them not to venture out in the sea during rough weather conditions. “Many a time, we are forced to seek the assistance of the tourist police to get the visitors out from the sea to safer places,” a lifeguard added.
Meanwhile, the rising sea water touched most of the shacks erected on the Colva beach, but no report of any destruction came in.
Shack owners at the Cavelossim beach informed that the rising sea water has only disrupted the shack erection activity on the beach.
