Sea water entered a beach shack at the Majorda beach Wednesday night, throwing up questions over the suitability of certain stretches of the beach for shack operations.

Sources close to the beach shack operator informed that the rising sea water entered the kitchen area of the shack Wednesday night, adversely affecting the business activity.

This is not the first time that water has entered the beach shack or has inundated certain stretches of the Majorda beach. In fact, the beach shack owner is believed to have had complained to the Tourism Department last year over rising sea water entering the shack. Sources said the owner had requested the Tourism Department to provide him an alternate area on the beach as the place in question is now susceptible for flooding and is literally under water. “We hope the Tourism Department will take cognisance of the ground reality and initiate action,” sources said.
