Seminar on urban development held
PANAJI: Ecovision nature club of GVM's GGPR College of commerce and economics organised a two-day State-level seminar on 'Sustainable urban development' in association with Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
The seminar was inaugurated by municipal councillor and garbage cell in-charge Venktesh Naik. Dr Allen Abreu, Principal BEd college was the guest of honour. Vice principal Dr MM Chikodikar, NSS coordinator Dr Pradeep Maske, Sulaxna Vernekar were also present.
Associate Professor Gulab Borkar was the seminar coordinator. Ventesh spoke on sustainable plans for waste management in Ponda. Fatima Rodrigues, Asstt professor compered the function.
There were technical sessions on sustainable water management, sustainable waste management, urban farming, effect of global warming, techniques of gardening. Panel discussion was held with stakeholders.
A technical session was conducted in Lokvan, Nirmal Vishwa environmental training session, wherein the practical aspect of waste management and techniques of gardening were explained to the students, by Rekha Joshi and Gulab Borkar.
About 125 students along with 10 teachers participated in the seminar. KD Sadhale spoke at the valedictory function and distributed certificates.
