The South Goa Sessions Court has acquitted seven persons who were charged by the Margao police for committing a dacoity at Sirvodem way back in 2012 near Gausiya Masjid.
Additional Sessions Judge Edgar Fernandes acquitted all the seven accused for the offence of dacoity.
The Margao police had charged the seven accused for effecting entry into the office of Shyam Kumar Jamuni near Gausiya Masjid, Sirvodem, all armed with wooden dandas, assaulted the complainant and the office staff, causing him bleeding injuries.
The accused further damaged the office causing a loss of Rs 50,000. The accused were also accused of decamping with four mobile phones and cash of Rs two lakh.
Judge Edgar observed that he is unable to conclude that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
