Saligao MLA Kedar Naik on Saturday launched the work of laying a 323-metre sewerage line in Ward 8 of the Reis Magos Panchayat. The new line will be connected to the Porvorim sewerage scheme. The inauguration was attended by Reis Magos ZP member Sandeep Bandodkar, ward panch Prasanna Nagvekar, and local residents.

MLA Naik said Ward 8 is a rocky area where water from soak pits does not percolate, causing inconvenience to residents. He said the sewer line project was taken up in response to long-standing public demand. The project, estimated to cost Rs 2.50 crore, will include the construction of 10 manholes and is expected to be completed within a year.

Naik noted that sewerage work in Saligao has progressed slowly because some residents fear potential future issues with the system.

The MLA also announced plans to develop two open spaces in Ward 8 through the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). The development will include a senior citizens’ park and a children’s play area. He urged residents to provide No Objection Certificates (NOCs) so that these projects can begin without delay.

Ward member Prasanna Nagvekar thanked MLA Naik for addressing the long-pending demand of the locals.
