Sexual abuse case: Self-defense trainer’s custody extended

The Children’s Court has extended the custody of a self-defense trainer by five days, in a case of sexual abuse. 

The accused was produced in the Court on Thursday as his two days of police custody ended. He is charged with sexually abusing a teenage boy under the pretext of medical check-ups over one year.  

The investigation team submitted to the Court that they have identified more victims, whose statements are yet to be recorded.  Accordingly, the Court extended his remand. 

The trainer was booked under section 377 (unnatural offenses) of the Indian Penal Code, and relevant sections of the Goa Children’s Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act last Sunday, following a complaint by a local NGO.

PANAJIA constable attached to Margao District Police Head Quarters was on Thursday arrested for allegedly raping a minor.
