President of the Margao Shigmotsav Samiti, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat on Tuesday said the organizers of the Shigmo parade scheduled on Saturday will ensure that the parade winds up as per the High Court directions.
Addressing the media in the presence of Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar and members of the Margao Shigmotsav Samiti, Kamat said the organizers had a bitter experience last year when the float parade and ended at dawn.
“We will be very strict in enforcing the timings this time round. We have told the Romtamel troupes that the parade will start exactly at 4 pm. We have received around 16 applications. We want to wind up the romtamel parade by 7 pm to start the Chirtrarathe parade”, he said.
Saying that around Rs 11 lakh worth of prizes are up for grabs at the Margao shigmotsav float competition, the PWD Minister said the Margao shigmotsav Samiti have increased the prize money over and above the funds sanctioned by the Tourism department.
