Parsekar calls to imbibe virtues of Shivaji

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday highlighted the need to imbibe the virtues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, to provide good and transparent governance in the State.
Parsekar was speaking at a State-level function in Farmagudi to mark the 386th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Others present at the function included PWD Minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, Industries Minister Mahadev Naik, Minister for Factories & Boilers Pandurang Dhavalikar, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar, secretary for Information & Publicity Sudhir Mahajan, ZP member Chitra Phadte, Sarpanch Nayan Naik and sirector of I&P Jayant Tari.
“The great Maratha king Shivaji was known for his bravery and shrewd administration, wisdom and also for planned development. Shivaji always stood for discipline and to protect the interest of the common man,” said Parsekar.
“Shivaji never discriminated against anyone, but some try to create controversies by giving false information about history. This should not happen,” said Parsekar.
The Chief Minister also called for presentation and enrichment of moral values and to follow the thoughts and principles of Shivaji to weed out corruption and for good governance.
In his address, PWD Minister Ramkrishna Dhavlikar made mention of violent clashes at the JNU in New Delhi.
“One should respect the nation's history and should not tolerate people who hail another nation on our land. We should be strong enough to tackle such forces who work against our nation,” Dhavalikar said.
Minister for Industries Mahadev Naik and Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar also spoke on the occasion.
Dr Deepak Deshpande, who delivered the keynote address, highlighted the qualities of Shivaji in regard to his bravery, courage and wisdom in building the Maratha kingdom.
On the occasion, the chief minister released a book titled 'Mahiti Stotra' written by N Shivdas, the president of Gopal Ganpati Devasthan.
