South Goa MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar has stated that the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Delhi will closely monitor gradual progress of the two adopted villages in Quepem taluka, Khola and Caurem-Pirla, under the Adarsh Gram Yojana.
Sawaikar was interacting with citizens and addressed their grievances, during a brief meeting with deputy collector south and other officials.
On Thursday morning, Quepem locals addressed their problems about poor facilities and other issues related to government services to Sawaikar, who patiently heard several issues faced by the locals.
While interacting with Deputy Collector Shankar Gaonkar and other officials, Sawaikar said he had recently adopted two villages in Quepem “ Khola and Caurem-Pirla. He requested the PWD (roads) officials to swiftly tar the roads and carry out repair.
“If basic facilities like road connectivity, uninterrupted electricity supply is made available in these villages, then rest of the development will take place at a faster pace,” he said.
He requested all the government officials present at the meeting to co-operate while carrying out development of these two villages. “Gradual development of these villages will be under continuous scanner of the PMO,” he added.
Some locals raised the parking issue, to which Sawaikar said a special committee has been formed to solve parking issue and decision will be taken to solve parking issue soon.
Other issues like red tapism in government offices, CCTV camera surveillance and fines which people get for no reasons were also raised during the meet. After listening to all the grievances, Sawaikar assured that the issues will be conveyed to the government.
Deputy Collector Shankar Gaonkar, PI Pravin Gauns Dessai, Mamlatdar Quepem Pratap Gaonkar, PWD and electricity officials, Councillor Amol Kanekar and others were present for the meeting.
