PONDA
An optical and eyewear shop was gutted, while another shop and a bank office were also damaged in a fire at a shopping complex at Tisk-Ponda on Saturday morning.
The fire is suspected to have started at the eyewear store Global Vision on account of a short circuit.
Owners of neighbouring shops noticed smoke billowing from the shop and alerted the Ponda fire station.
A fire brigade went to the site and extinguished the fire.
The owner of Global Vision suffered extensive losses in the fire, while a computer and a laptop in a neighbouring shop and a bank office were also damaged.
