Shri Mallikarjun Devasthan committee refutes allegations over construction at Palolem

Shri Mallikarjun Devasthan committee refutes allegations over construction at Palolem

Refuting allegations by ‘Sevekaris’ of Shri Mallikarjun Devasthan, Shristhal against the Devasthan Committee of carrying out illegal construction, committee members on Thursday said the allegations are an attempt defame the temple and grab its property.

The ‘Sevekaris’ had accused the committee of blocking access to houses and undertaking construction on Devasthan property in No Development Zone (NDZ).

The committee members claimed that the temple owns many parcels of land across the state. A survey of its land was conducted to make a better use of the properties, they added.

Some of the lands are in the possession of ‘Sevekaris’, with some commercial activities taking place in properties without the consent of the Devasthan.

The committee members also claimed they had not blocked the pathway to houses and that the aim of the exercise was to secure the vacant land by digging trenches.

They said no houses were demolished and that peaceful occupation will not be disturbed.
