Members of the central and organising committees of the Damodar Bhajani Saptah along with Prashant Joshi of the Joshi Family on Monday morning offered a Shrifal at the Lord Damodar temple, ahead of the famous Saptah Festival in Vasco.
The process for donations at the Saptah also began with a counter being set at the temple premises on Monday.
Damodar Bhajani Saptah Committee President Jagdish Durbhatkar, Vishnu Gharudi, Vinayak Ghonge and Anand Parab were also present while the Shrifal was offered at the Lord Damodar temple.
When contacted, Prashant Joshi said the Shrifal was offered as traditional ritual to offer prayers to ensure that the Saptah Festival is celebrated smoothly without any untoward incident.
“While last year, the committee did not move from house to house for the Saptah donations amid the Covid pandemic, this year it was planned that a donation counter be set at the temple premises.”
"We offered prayers and also placed our donation book before Lord Damodar before we set up the donation counter in the temple. We have started the donation process (Vargani) and we will now have two members at a counter inside the temple to cater to people wanting to offer donations for the Saptah festival,” said Joshi.
“This year, we decided to start the donation process but decided not to make it a house to house visit process due to the pandemic."
Joshi said the Saptah celebrations this year will also be on the same lines like last year where visitors may be prohibited at the temple to prevent the mass gathering of people while the festival was being celebrated.
“However, all religious services will be streamed on social media so that devotees can see it on an online platform,” Joshi added.
