Single-window licensing system for tourism still pending: Saglani

CANACONA
The All Goa Private Property Beach Shacks and Hut Owners Association President Dharmesh Saglani has claimed that the government has already started processing applications for issuing seasonal licences for five years, with three months in the monsoon as off-season months.
Speaking at the celebration of World Tourism Day organized by Palolem United Trust at Canacona on Wednesday, Saglani said: "The government also did away with the necessity of dismantling seasonal tourist structures."
He further stated that 75% of the long-pending demands of the tourism stakeholders have been resolved, with the one main pending demand being vigorously pursued by the association with the government is single-window licensing facility.
According to Saglani, the central government notification is already out for issuance of tourism trade licenses, which will be valid for five years on renewal every year.
"The tourism months have already been extended by permitting to commence the trade from September from present October, with June, July and August as tourism off-season. The cumbersome procedure of dismantling/re-assembling of seasonal structures after the end and beginning of every season is also done with."
"Only thing, one has to keep their structures covered and not operate them in off-season period. The government has already begun to issue five years seasonal tourism trade licenses. CRZ and Pollution board have already began to process applications," he said.
Saglani regretted that association's main demand of single-window licensing system still hangs in balance. "We had approached 16 different departments and authorities to get one season license. Each of these departments/authorities take 7-8 days to pursue an application, eating out on much of the time."
