Former WRD minister and Siolim MLA Vinoda Paliencar said work on roads will be taken up soon after the monsoon and by December-end all roads in Siolim will be “chakachak”.
Paliencar said most of the road works got delayed because of the ongoing Covid crisis and the resulting lack of labour force in the State.
He also said the Siolim-Marna road, which was in a pathetic state, has already been tendered three years ago but the work got delayed as WRD was laying a water pipeline along the road.
“All road works will be taken up in October and by November-December end all roads in Siolim constituency will be chakachak. The roads will be so smooth that if you pour oil on them it will run off easily,” Paliencar said.
He also said that the Sodiem-Marna link road costing around Rs 7.5 crore will also be taken up in October.
The Siolim MLA admitted that some areas in the constituency faced water issues but efforts were being made to tide over the crisis.
“Water problem will also be resolved. We have constructed a sump and an overhead tank in Anjuna which will be commissioned in another fortnight. Once that happens, Anjuna area will get good water supply,” he said.
