PANAJI

Congress on Sunday alleged that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant overruled the revenue departments critical comments about the Bhumiputra Adhikarini bill and sought to pass it in a hurry in the Legislative assembly.

The spokesperson of Congress Trajano Demello showed the documents related to the Bhumiputra Adhikarini bill under RTI.

"The revenue department has written a adverse note on a file regarding Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill that the bill is violating norms of constitution of india Article 300 A which protects rights of land owners," said Trajano Demello in a press conference.

The file was passed in hurry and all decisions were taken at the midnight, said Demello.

"The finance secretary Sanjay Kumar had not given approval to the draft of bill on July 30. The study in detail is required on bill the revenue secretary has suggested.  There are similar adverse comments by law and finance department, said Trajano.

The bill was prepared on July 30 early morning and then given to MLAs.

When Revenue Minister Jenifer Monserratte when asked about these Congress comments on the bill, she said the government has decided to review the bill and has asked for suggestions and objections to the bill so there is no point in commenting on it.
