In yet another incident of tourists being thrashed by the locals, six tourists from Telangana were beaten up by locals at Khandepar on Sunday evening.
PONDA rrAccording to sources, six youth were proceeding towards Belgaum in their vehicle. “When they reached Khandepar they stopped for urinating. When they started urinating in front of a house, its owner, who also owns a shop just opposite to his residence, took objection to the incident. The tourist were in no mood to listen to the local, and instead asked for the documents of the house. This sparked tension leading to the assault,” police sources said, adding that the whole incident had been recorded on the CCTV outside the shop. rThe tourist later lodged a complaint with the Ponda police. One Rajesh Reddy who was injured was referred to Sub District Hospital for treatment. Sources informed that he sustained minor injuries. Ponda police are further investigating the case. rLast month, a spat in a hotel at Merces took an ugly turn after four persons from the village attacked tourists with sharp weapons. The tourists including men, women and children from Vasai-Mumbai were injured in the incident. The locals had also damaged the bus carrying the tourists.
