Smart integrated command and control centre for Panaji likely by Dec 2021

PANAJI
With a network of over 300-odd high-tech cameras, the smart integrated command and control centre is likely to be functional by December 2021 in Panaji.

The Smart City officials on Sunday held a presentation on this integrated command and control centre for Panaji councillors at the IT Hub, Altinho, Panaji.

Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) MD Ravi Dhavan was present for the presentation.

The technical person informed that the government has given a deadline to complete the project and it will be functional by December 2021.

The system is designed to manage tasks like solid waste management, track traffic violations, smart parking solutions, pollution monitoring and display etc.

The garbage bins, garbage vehicle movement will be monitored for effective garbage management with the system.

The Patto EDC area will have smart parking system with a display of empty slots and having screen e-payment facility of the parking fees.

The number of vehicles entering the city will also be monitored.

The system will also provide an added level of safety for the citizens through constant monitoring via CCTV cameras, thereby enabling the authorities to detect crimes remotely and identify suspects involved.

In fact, the IPSCDL officer informed how a robbery was detected using the data from camera installed by the Panaji police.

The councillors during the presentation suggested that IPSCDL should take into confidence the corporators while digging roads and selecting the locations of cameras. Also, vehicle-mounted moving camera options should be considered to check out various violations.

The councillor hoped that the project will not be delayed further as it is already left behind schedule for the last two years for various reasons.

We want the project to be operational as it will make Panaji city really smart, said Deputy Mayor Vasant Agashikar while speaking to the media.

This is not the first time that IPSCDL is giving information to councillors about this system. In fact, few years back we were taken on a tour of Indore to show how the system actually works, said councillor Shubham Chodankar.
