PORVORIM
In a bid to render assistance to Covid patients in the village, the Socorro panchayat has now started delivering oximeters and medicines to patients at their doorsteps.
Speaking to ‘The Goan’, Socorro Sarpanch Sandeep Vazarkar said there are many residents in the village who have tested positive.
“Many of them have sought treatment at home and require assistance to deliver medicines to their homes. To help such people and those who do not have access to oximeters and prescribed medicines at the health centre, the Socorro panchayat had decided to deliver these oximeters and medicines to the doorsteps of patients,” said Vazarkar.
The sarpanch said the patients should either contact him, panchas or the panchayat office and request for medicines and oximeter.
“The panchayat will then arrange to deliver the oximeter and medicines to their doorsteps. This service is free of cost,” said Vazarkar.
Vazarkar said the business community in Socorro has responded positively to the lockdown call given by the panchayat.
“Barring pharmacies, all other shops were closed after the restricted hours,” said Vazarkar.
