Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has on Friday exuded confidence that the city’s garbage issue plaguing the commercial capital may see some result around May.
Saying that attempts are underway to find a solution to the garbage imbroglio, Kamat said the government is also scheduled to commission the Curchorem waste treatment plant. “We will have to see the requirement of waste of the Curchorem plant before taking a decision,” he said.
Kamat further said the Goa Waste Management Corporation and the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) will decide whether there’s a need to set up the proposed two waste treatment plants or opt for other solutions.
He, however, said the Margao Municipality has found a solution to the dry waste problem, adding that the remediation of the Sonsodo legacy dump is almost complete. “The GWMC has set a timeline for the transportation of RDF from Sonsodo,” he said.
