PERNEM
Following growing complaints of water scarcity, Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar visited the Chandel water project and directed PWD officers to either intimate the public in advance if there is restricted water supply or to supply water through tankers.
Those present during the interaction included PWD officers, Chandel Hasapur Sarpanch Tulshidas Gawas, Kasarvarne Sarpanch Navnath Naik and Panch Bala Shetkar.
Arlekar sought to know why there had been water scarcity in March itself and wondered how the PWD would provide water supply in April and May.
The MLA also asked if the water scarcity issue had become serious because water has been diverted to Mopa Airport and the AYUSH Hospital. He instructed the PWD officers to ensure that public grievances are resolved on priority.
Arlekar also discussed about the power outages in the village and sought to know why alternative arrangements had not been done to ensure uninterrupted water supply during a power outage.
The MLA said he would appeal to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral to resolve the issues of Pernem on priority. Arlekar also discussed the salary issues of contract workers at the water department and appealed to the government to look into the matter.
