MARGAO
The Margao KTC bus stand, including the decades old bus shelter, received a makeover running into lakhs of rupees, thanks to the Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa rally held at the venue on Tuesday.
That’s not all. Roads in and around the venue of the rally received a coat of hot mix, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city. The SAG-acquired land for the hockey turf also got filled up to make way for the makeshift KTC bus stand.
The sprawling SGPDA grounds, which has been craving attention for over a decade now as the promised parking lot had failed to materialize, too received a tarred surface, which has paved the way for vehicular parking.
Sadly, a solution staring at the SGPDA retail market on the waste front seemed to have eluded the powers that be and the concerned authorities. While fish vendors had protested over the overflowing waste water in the PDA market on the eve of the Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa at the adjoining KTC bus stand, a visit to the PDA retail market on Wednesday has revealed that the waste problem seemed far from over.
In fact, waste was found dumped along the footpath metres away from the fishing cutting shed, indicating that a permanent solution to the waste issue has eluded the authorities.
Besides, thermocol waste was found in the open passage between the retail fish market and the dry fish shed.
