Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday made a shocking claim that "some officials" (employees) of State-owned Corporations have looted the PSUs over the years.
Sawant however refrained from naming either any Corporation or any of the rogue officials.
The chief minister also did not say what his government would do to either prosecute the culprits or recover the so called loot.
“I have studied the matters after becoming Chief Minister. For instance, in one corporation many staff members have purchased plots for themselves and also allotted many to their relatives," Sawant said after an event at the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Ltd.
Sawant further lamented that these rogue staff never gave a thought to their organisation's well being but rather their own selfish interests.
None-the-less, the chief minister paradoxically showered praise on the staff of the EDC terming them 'dedicated'.
Successive governments, including Sawant's, have faced flak for using these otherwise comercial entities and spots on their BoDs to accomodate political supporters and hangers-on.
Several of these State-owned corporations have for decades languished financially owing to imprudent corporate practices, corruption or simply lack of initiative.
