Major bus stands in the State managed by Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) will soon be converted into State-of-the-art bus ports within the next four years, through a central scheme designed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Facilities like shopping mall, office spaces, restaurants, play areas for children, among others are some of the facilities that would come up at these bus ports.
Speaking on the sidelines of 37th anniversary of KTCL, Transport Minister Ramakrishna ‘Sudin' Dhavalikar said, "We had a meeting at national level headed by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. He had taken up the issue of having bus ports in every State across the country, which would in turn benefit people across all sections of the society."
"These bus ports would have facilities just like the ones on any airport. Gadkari has prepared a scheme to implement these projects and made a provision for the same in the central budget. As soon as the bill is introduced and scheme is passed, work on projects would begin across the Country", said Dhavalikar.
"The State Government is currently exploring the possibility on how the existing bus stands could be converted into bus ports. The consultant for the project will be either appointed by the Central Government or the State Government who will prepare a detailed project report (DPR). Once the DPR is approved the Centre will provide us with the gap viable fund if we are unable to construct it. However, if we take it on PPP or BOT basis then we should have any problem", he said.
