PANAJI
The State government has started the process to register all details about properties in Goa at one place i.e in one register.
In this process, a unique identification number will be assigned to immovable properties owned by citizens in the State.
The government has notified the rules and will assign a unique identification number to each property. Information such as ownership, zone classification, encumbrances, legal rights, mortgage and lease info will be included in the register and the director of Revenue Department will be in charge of this.
Based on the present land revenue records, the property register will be prepared and these details will be uploaded on the website, gazette and also on two newspapers.
People will be given 15 days notice to file objections if any about the details of their properties. The officers in charge will then make changes and accordingly act on objections.
The new system will give information about a particular property at one click and the database will be integrated with other departments while local bodies or other agencies will add details about encumbrances, zoning, lieu, mortgage, lease, court order etc, related to the properties, in the manner as specified by the director from time to time.
An extract of Property Register can be downloaded on payment of Rs 200 per unique property identification number. The extract shall bear a time stamp and/or special features as may be decided by the director.
