Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte on Monday expressed unhappiness over the CRZ for not allowing development works along the coastline in Mandrem constituency.
Sopte along with the panchayat authorities and other officials inspected the coastline of Mandrem constituency to construct changing rooms and toilets.
It may be recalled that a foundation stone for the construction of changing rooms and toilets was laid at Morjim. A tender for the project was floated, but the CRZ objected to the plans as the land comes under the CRZ.
"The earlier government laid foundation stone for the changing rooms and toilets without the nod from the CRZ," alleged Sopte.
"The land along the coastline comes under CRZ and work cannot be undertaken until CRZ gives NOC," added Sopte.
Tourism director Jeet Arolkar said fund of Rs 100 crore has been received from the central government and facilities like changing rooms, toilets, parking and development of new tourists spots will be provided through the fund.
Sopte inspected the Khind-Morjim junction to construct a circle, proposed parking and changing rooms at Tembwada-Morjim, high mast lamp, changing rooms and toilets at Vitthaldaswada-Morjim.
Morjim Sarpanch Shanti Poke, Deputy Sarpanch Amit Shetgaonkar, Panchas Vaishalli Shetgaonkar others were present.
