Politicos from down South on Thursday made a strong case in support of electric vehicles as a substitute for the petrol and diesel vehicles, with Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai saying the ministers should set an example by going electric.
Social Welfare Minister Subhash Faldesai, Goa Forward chief MLA Vijai Sardesai and BJP Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar who attended the grand opening of ELTHOR showroom at Navelim on Thursday, said the electric vehicles will be the vehicles of the future and will substitute the petrol and diesel vehicles.
The Social Welfare Minister said electric bikes are a replacement for the petrol vehicles. “I am a petrol pump owner, but I am all for the electric vehicles. The youth and all sections of society should go for the electric vehicles,” he said, even as he made an appeal to the companies to ensure proper maintenance to gain confidence of the consumers.
In his address, MLA Sardesai said the electric vehicles are not only environment friendly, but pocket friendly. “Going electric is also pocket friendly,” he said, adding that ministers should set an example by going electric.
Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar said the electric vehicles is a substitute for the petrol and diesel vehicles, and urged the people to promote the vehicles.
