The Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of Goa, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Odisha as of October 8, 2026, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to the IMD, conditions are favourable for further withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon from some more parts of eastern India and the northern peninsula, along with many parts of northeast India, over the next three to four days.
The line of withdrawal currently passes through Supaul, Ranchi, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Bijapur, Hyderabad, Belagavi and Panjim, among other locations.
The IMD also reported several weather systems across the country, including cyclonic circulations over northeast Bihar, northeast Assam, East Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. A trough extends from northeast Bihar towards Telangana across Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Another cyclonic circulation, previously over Lakshadweep and the adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, now lies over the south Kerala coast. A trough also extends from the southeast Arabian Sea to South Interior Karnataka.
