A spa was gutted in a fire at Calangute due to a short circuit on Thursday morning, damaging property estimated at Rs 10 lakh.
According to sources, fire broke out at the spa at about 8 am and by the time fire tenders from the Mapusa and Pilerne fire stations could rush to the site, the premises was engulfed in flames. Air-conditioning units, mattresses, towels and other items at this eight-room spa were destroyed in the fire.
The spa was located on the first floor of a building and firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to a restaurant on the ground floor. Calangute Police is investigating the incident.
