Speed breakers demanded in Valpoi
VALPOI: Residents of Valpoi have demanded to install a speed breaker on the main road near the entrance of Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) administrative building, a few metres away from Valpoi bridge, as many minor accidents take place along the busy Valpoi-Panaji route.
When contacted, VMC Chairperson Ramdas Shirodkar said he had received many complaints and suggestions from the public to install a speed breaker at the site, but the proposal is pending since long with the authorities concerned.
“Following complaints from the public, VMC had sent a proposal to the authority concerned including the deputy collector and the traffic cell Mapusa, but so far we have not received any positive action. I will again send a reminder,” Shirodkar informed.
It may be recalled that VMC after shifting from the old building a few months back is presently functioning in the new administrative building near Valpoi bridge, where many commercial establishments are situated, resulting in regular traffic chaos along the route.
