It was a milestone for 17,278 students declared successful at their SSC examinations on Tuesday, but it was also a milestone for the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education as it recorded the highest ever success rate of 92.47% at the SSC board exams.
Another achievement for the Goa Board was the declaration of results within 23 days from the last paper at the examinations.
Announcing the results at a news conference in Porvorim, Goa Board Chairman Ramkrishna Samant said 17,278 of 18,684 students who answered their SSC exams were declared successful, registering an all-time high success rate of 92.47%, while 98 schools had secured 100% pass results.
Samant said the record high 92.47% success rate had surpassed the previous high of 91.57% secured in the 2017 exams.
Comparing the performance of boys and girls, Samant said 8,772 (92.64%) out of 9,469 girls had been successful in their exams, while 8,506 (92.31%) of a total 9,215 boys had been successful in their exams.
“A special feature of this year’s results was that it was declared within 23 days from the conclusion of the last exam paper and 1,557 teachers were appointed for assessment work in two centres, one each in the north and south,” said Samant.
The Goa Board chairman said the SSC exams were conducted between April 2 and April 26 in 28 centres across the State.
Commenting on the 98 schools which secured 100% pass results, Samant said 67 were aided schools and 31 were government schools.
He also mentioned that 7,122 students had availed of sports merit marks while 279 students had passed with the help of sports merit marks.
Goa Board Secretary Bhagirath Shetye and Goa Board Asst Secretary Jyotsna Sarin were also present at the news conference.
Paper revaluation deadline: May 31
PORVORIM: Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Chairman Ramkrishna Samant said the last date to seek revaluation of answer books is May 31, while the last date for supply of verified photocopies of answer books is May 28 and the last date to request verification of marks in absentia is May 31.
