St Andre locals accompanied by MLA Viresh Borkar protested at the PWD head office over shortage of water in parts of the constituency.
At the protest, heated arguments ensued between Borkar and the PWD officials over the incapability of the PWD to resolve the issue despite several assurances in the past.
Later speaking to reporters, Borkar informed that they have been given assurance that the water shortage will be resolved within the next eight days.
“The PWD Chief Engineer has informed that water shortage issue would be resolved by March 15,” Borkar informed.
“I get umpteen calls from the public due to water shortage and therefore we had come here to know about the exact reason why the water crisis is affecting St Andre constituency,” the MLA said.
Borkar then said they have also made another demand to stop issuing licences to mega projects till the time that the water crisis is resolved, not only in St Andre constituency, but entire Goa.
“We have asked CE to write a letter to the TCP to stop issuing licences to mega projects till the water crisis is resolved,” Borkar added.
“If the water crisis is not resolved by March 15, then we will again protest here and that time the number of protestors will be more,” the MLA warned and stated that he would raise the issue in the upcoming Assembly session as well.
