Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade has on Thursday said the ST Bill introduced in Parliament will come up for discussion in the Monsoon session for discussion and approval.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of inauguration of school bus under his MPLAD scheme handed over to the city-based Popular High School, Tanavade said the ST Bill did not come up for discussion in the just concluded Parliament session since there were many other pressing issues and Bills, including Wafq Board Bill. “The Parliament debated and passed the crucial Wafq Board Bill in Parliament since it was a national issue. No doubt, the ST Bill is equally important, and will come up for discussion in Parliament in the Monsoon session. The Bill will be approved in the Monsoon session since there is no objection to the Bill,” he said.
The Rajya Sabha MP said he has given sanction for a host of MPLAD projects in South Goa under his scheme, adding that the district Collector, South and his team will take the projects forward. He, however, said there is no proposal before him to take up the CCTV project in the commercial capital.
On the flyover crossing at the Davorlim railway crossing, Tanavade said that he had raised the issue in Parliament upon a request made by Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar considering the hardships faced by the people from Davorlim and surrounding villages.
To a question on the status of the education hub at Davorlim on the lines of the Cujira school complex, the Rajya Sabha MP said the project initiated by former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar needs to be taken to its logical conclusion.
The MP supported the move of the government to reopen the schools from April 7 as per the NEP rules.
