The Government has already formed a committee under Former Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker to address issues plaguing the complex. Sepaking to media persons on the sidelines of a function, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar opined that with the construction of the Cujira Complex, the complaints of traffic congestion in Panaji have stopped.
“As far as children’s education is concerned, there is better environment and state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities created. However, at the same time another problem is that there are no sufficient transportation facilities vis-a-vis the number of students. Another issue is construction of the road passing through the complex to the main road in a circular way,” said Parrikar adding, “Some of the property belongs to BSNL. We have got NOC from them. After taking possession of that land, construction of the ring road will commence which will then turn into an underpass on the highway.”
“Secondly, the timing of all schools is same. I have told the managements to stagger the timings to avoid congestion. This will solve traffic congestion to a very large extent,” he said.
Additionally, to provide uninterrupted power supply, money has been allotted for installation of a new transformer and the order has been issued already.
“The work on installation of new water pipeline is also in progress. Additionally, there is also a proposal to set up a common sewage treatment plant,” said Parrikar.
