All India Congress Committee secretary in-charge of Goa, Manickam Tagore on Friday chided the State Congress saying there were some leaders who were "not working enough" and that he would submit a report to the party High Command.
Tagore, a Lok Sabha MP from Tamil Nadu was down in Goa over the last two days taking stock of the Opposition party's organisational preparedness in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“There are some leaders who are "not working enough"… I will submit a report to the party High Command”, he said.
Tagore said, the Congress party will announce candidates for both parliamentary seats in Goa after elections are announced even as he fended questions from journalists at the press conference he addressed suggesting disunity in the party over some leaders already going around claiming they to be the candidates.
"The Congress is united. There is nothing wrong. Any Congress worker can aspire to be the party's candidate. There is nothing wrong to have aspirations but once the party announces the candidates everyone will be united to ensure victory," Tagore shot back.
He also said, the Congress will win both the seats in Goa as people will vote against the Sawant government.
On the question of forging ties at the State level with constituents of Opposition bloc INDIA, particularly Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Tagore said at the moment it (INDIA) has been forged at the National level and when the Central leadership decides to move to the State level they will engage with AAP in Goa.
Attacking the government, Tagore predicted that the Sawant-led dispensation in the State would collapse after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
