MARGAO
The BJP ST morcha on Friday said the Goa government has set in motion the process to give political reservations to the ST community in the Assembly election.
The BJP ST morcha also paid tributes to the noted Tribal leader Birsa Munda at the party district office here on Friday.
Party leaders Digambar Kamat, Damu Naik, besides ST leaders, participated in the programme.
ST Morcha president Prabhakar Gaonkar along with BJP ST leader Anthony Barbosa told the media on Friday that though many may claim credit for the political reservations, it is the BJP government led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that would make the long pending demand of the ST community a reality in 2027.
“Many leaders and organisations may claim success for the ST reservations, but the BJP ST Morcha had taken up the matter with BJP Goa president Sadanand Tanavade, after which the party took up the issue with the Chief Minister,” Gaonkar said, adding that the Chief Minister had given the delegation a categorical assurance that the political reservations for the ST community will become a reality in the 2027 election.
Prabhakar Gaonkar along with Goa Legislative Assembly speaker Ramesh Tawadkar have left for Delhi to welcome President Murmu at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi for receiving the highest civilian award.
