The State has received nearly 297 cms of rainfall since the start of the season in June 1. Other towns of the state too witnessed heavy rainfall with Sakhali and Canacona receiving five centimetres each closely followed by Sanguem with four. Mapusa, Valpoi and Quepem saw three centimetres of rainfall each.
The met department had predicted heavy rainfall in Goa over the weekend on account of increased monsoon activity and a low pressure trough over eastern India. However, the weather is likely to improve as the week with warnings issued by the Met Department having been withdrawn. The well-marked high pressure area is likely to weaken into a low pressure area very soon. On Monday, it will be seen over Vidarbha and adjoining Telangana region.
