MARGAO
New entrant Mickky Pacheco on Thursday said appealed to some Congress leaders to stop misguiding the High Command on party issues in Goa, while warning that he would be forced to sternly discipline these leaders.
Reiterating his demand that the Congress should go it alone in 2022 poll battle, Mickky said that Congress election observer P Chidambaram’s stand that the party would field candidates in all the 40 seats is the official party position on the question of alliances.
Saying that he has various options at his disposal to put these leaders in place, he said he would use his options against the party leaders if they do not fall in line, saying pulling their ears is one such option.
Addressing the meadia, he said he has nothing to lose in politics. But, since he has joined the Congress to ensure the party returns to power, I do not want some leaders to misguide the party leadership instead of working for the party.
Asked if he would still contest if Congress conceded the Benaulim seat to NCP in a seat sharing arrangement, Mickky shot back “I am certain that there would be no alliance with the NCP and Mickky would contest from Benaulim on the Congress banner”.
Asked whether he has expressed his sentiments to Opposition leader Digambar Kamat, Mickky said what matters for him is the party and not any individual.
On TMC’s entry in Goa, Mickky said he would prefer to retire from politics rather than joining it.
Directing his tirade against Luizinho Faleiro for embracing TMC, Mickky recalled that Luizinho had promised him heaven if he dislodged the BJP government in 2002, but in vain.
