The street lights at the dividers on the decorated roads in the Morjim panchayat area are not working for the past several days, and neither government nor the electricity department has noticed it, complain locals.
The area remains dark at night and locals are demanding to solve the issue on an emergency basis.
The project had been conceptualised with the expenses of over Rs 5 crore from the funds of the Swadesh Darshan Yojana by the then chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
The project was enjoyed by the locals, especially tourists and kids who played in the garden in the evenings. The garden also has seating arrangements for senior citizens, a mini auditorium, stalls, a food court, a yoga centre and other entertainment equipment.
The garden remained empty during the Covid pandemic, but was opened afterwards. However the food court is closed, and the government is not getting any revenue. As there are no lights on the streets, the public does not visit the garden, stated a local Albert Fernandes.
