Taking no chances, the Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd deployed heavy Railway Police Protection (RPF) force at the Davorlim and Nessai railway level crossings on Wednesday evening to raze down structures.
A bulldozer was deployed by the Railways at the two places near the level crossings to pull down the rooms in the presence of a strong police force.
RVNL officials said the structures near the level crossings have been razed down since the Railways have built new structures along the tracks.
“We had to deploy armed RPF since there were incidents in the two villages in the recent past when people had stopped the ongoing work,” a senior railway official said.
Local residents of Areal as well as the local village panchayat had issued a stop-work order recently after the Railways was found undertaking work on the construction of rooms near the Nessai railway crossing without permission from the local body.
In fact, the local residents had also forced the officials to stop work on the Ralloi railway station premises in Areal after the contractor was found carrying out the work in violation of the stop-work order.
