The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), South Goa District, organised an awareness session in Shree Balram Residential High School, Amone-Poinguinim, aimed at educating students on significant and timely legal and social issues.
The session highlighted the importance of understanding laws and responsibilities in today’s fast-changing world. Experts emphasised the need for young citizens to be aware of traffic regulations, the risks associated with cyber crimes, the legal framework protecting children, and the harmful effects of substance abuse. The discussions encouraged students to become informed, responsible, and law-abiding citizens.
The event was graced by Sunita A Gaunekar, Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board, South Goa District. She addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of awareness in preventing juvenile offences and ensuring child protection.
Adv Sumita Sawant Dessai, Member of the Juvenile Justice Board, and Adv Vahida Yelgar, Advocate under Free Legal Aid, shared insights on legal rights, responsibilities, and available support systems.
