PONDA: A defiant MGP leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Saturday challenged BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar to contest and get elected from Sanvordem constituency, while daring the BJP to try its luck in his Marcaim constituency.
Addressing a news conference on Saturday, Dhavalikar was reacting to Vinay Tendulkar’s statements about the BJP contesting from Marcaim in future.
"Let the BJP try its luck in Marcaim constituency. If they want even my supporters can help them," taunted Dhavalikar.
He also sought to remind Tendulkar that the MGP had given its three votes to Vinay Tendulkar to get elected into the Rajya Sabha.
"The BJP state president should show that he can get win from Sanvordem constituency on his capacity and then, he doesn't need to go to the Rajya Sabha," Dhavalikar said.
Dhavalikar said the BJP's decision to drop him from the cabinet had cost them dearly in the Lok Sabha elections in the State.
“The loss of the South Goa seat was a direct result of this decision. The BJP faced a heavy loss after removing me from the cabinet. They lost the South Goa seat and lost a huge margin in north Goa because they did not get our support,” said Dhavalikar.
“In Marcaim constituency itself, we would have given them a huge margin, if we were with them. I didn’t force anyone against them, but the impact of my speeches during the campaign proved effective enough.”

'MGP-Cong alliance can get 24 seats in Assembly'
PONDA: MGP leader and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar has stated that a tie-up between the Congress and MGP could help the alliance win at least 24 seats in the assembly.
Dhavalikar, who had lent support to the Congress at the Lok Sabha election, said that the recent voting trends had suggested that an alliance between the MGP and Congress was not only possible, it would be successful as well.
“If we go together, we can easily win 24 seats. If we go minutely through the voting trends, the picture will be clear,” Dhavalikar said.
However, Dhavalikar did not elaborate on this possible alliance in future.
“I am just taking about the voting trends,” explained Dhavalikar.

Failure to stitch strategic tie-ups in Salcete cost Sawaikar

the goan I networkMARGAO Was BJP’s failure to stitch strategic tie-ups with local minority satraps like the 2014 election one of the factors that saw the reduction of sitting MP Narendra Sawaikar’s vote tally in the minority heartland Salcete?  Blame it on a host of factors, including the absence of Mission Salcete or simply the absence of tie-ups with minority leaders, BJP’s tally indeed came down substantially in the three minority dominated segments of…
