The post-mortem report in the alleged mass suicide case in Mapusa has revealed that the parents and the elder son died of hanging while the small child was strangled to death.

The doctors that conducted the autopsy said that a horizontal mark on the neck of the youngest child indicated there was constriction of the neck.

A senior doctor in pathology department of the Goa Medical College and Hospital informed that there could be a suicide pact between the parents but since both children were minors the death of the children cannot be called as suicide as they have been killed first by the parents.

In the meanwhile, Mapusa police are contemplating of registering a murder case against the father of the children.

It may be recalled four members of a family including two minor children allegedly committed mass suicide in their flat on second floor of an apartment in Khorlim, Mapusa on Tuesday.

The body of the father was found hanging at the entrance of the flat while the other three bodies were found on the floor in one of the bedrooms.

Police also found a four-page suicide note written by the father.  As per the contents of the letter, severe financial problems drove the family to take the drastic step.
