Several BJP supporters marched to the Vasco police station on Thursday evening to register a complaint against a Chicalim man and his father, after accusing them of a doctoring a video downloaded from the BJP webpage and uploading it on a social media page with malicious intentions.
Mormugao Municipal Councillor Reema Sonurlekar, who is also president of BJP Yuva Morcha, demanded strict action against the persons for modifying a video from the official BJP webpage, adding that the BJP Yuva Morcha would also register a complaint about the incident with the Police Cyber Crime Cell.
“During elections, a video was loaded of the first-time voters and most students were from Mormugao taluka. The video was uploaded on April 21 but since the last two days, the same video with a modified content is doing the rounds with the same faces.”
“The video which states ‘I am going to vote’ is now modified with objectionable words, causing concern because some students in the video are female and they are now being ridiculed,” said Sonurlekar.
She said the accused had manipulated the same video with same faces but with different content and had uploaded the video on his social media page.
“We have met the police inspector and demanded action. This is wrong as students who were in the video have been shamed with wrong content.”
“We demand an unconditional apology with a video of apology loaded on his Instagram account. The doctored video poses a threat to women students,” said Sonurlekar.
